History

Dances Patrelle was founded in 1988. From its inception, dP's mission has been to bring dramatic ballet, with an emphasis on societal and historical concerns, to the stage. We strive to address all elements of the human condition, and by so doing, make ballet accessible to a wider audience. Dances Patrelle is committed to a collaborative process, blending music, dramatic narrative, and historical accuracy.

dP's goals are:

To expand awareness, and develop appreciation for dramatic ballet.

To preserve the works of Francis Patrelle, and to provide him with an outlet for further choreographic expression

To create a forum for the presentation of the works of other up and coming choreographers

To more fully realize the interdisciplinary relationship between dance, music, and drama

To provide a forum by which experienced dancers can share in a mentoring relationship with young dancers, and contribute to their evolution as performers and artists

To provide maturing dancers the opportunity to expand their art through new choreographic works

To engage in a campaign of social outreach, providing under served populations with an opportunity for dance education and appreciation
