2007 Season
High StakesMarch 23 - 25, 2007
WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT MOTHER (world premiere + commissioned score)
Francis Patrelle sets out to tackle one of the most important and difficult issues in modern American life — the challenges and burdens of caring for an aging parent. With a brand new score by Patrick Soluri, and New York City Ballet principal dancers Jennifer Ringer and Stephen Hanna in the starring roles, Patrelle once again stands poised to redefine the scope of dramatic ballet.
PAIR OF JACKS (world premiere + commissioned score)
Leda Meredith treats us to a thrilling, uncharted battle of the sexes. Set to a brand new score by GrooveLily (Gene Lewin, Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda), Leda promises us a dramatic scene of passion, power and volatility not to be missed.
And the returns of
AMERICAN DREAMER
dP is thrilled to reintroduce one of Francis Patrelle's masterpieces — and the stakes couldn't be higher. In AMERICAN DREAMER, we are invited along as Patrelle explores the history, mythology and fondest hopes of our nation. Danced to a beautiful score by Rod Hausen, based on the melodies and lyrics of Stephen Foster, AMERICAN DREAMER is a feast for the intellect as well as the eye. A ballet of dramatic vision and startling power.
AMERICAN OVERTURE
Uncle Sam like you've never seen him! Set to music by the great Leonard Bernstein, and danced by Pacific Northwest Ballet principal Jonathan Porretta, AMERICAN OVERTURE is at once sexy, controversial and thought-provoking. Patrelle gives us a modern look at the United States and the ideals it ought to stand for. Alternately patriotic and troubling, AMERICAN OVERTURE is nothing short of unforgettable.
The Yorkville Nutcracker
